At 247 Fort Pitt Blvd in Pittsburgh, PA, stands the building which formerly housed the offices of Latent Image, filmmaker George A. Romero's production company. Various Romero projects had scenes filmed there, including the films Night of the Living Dead (1968) and Dawn of the Dead (1978).The basement of the office building was used for the basement scenes in Night of the Living Dead.

It is here that the character Harry Cooper insists is the safest place in the house to hide from the zombies. In some of the film's most ironically macabre moments, the basement is where Harry and his family all die...and then come back.

Click here to visit the former Latent Image office building... just don't forget to bring your masonry trowel.
