Johnnie had grown tired of the waiting game, and decided to call the gang together to meet at Harry’s Sub Shoppe in Market Square. This time the whole gang showed, even those that hadn’t been around in awhile. Marky and Toni showed, Jester and Kaylei, Torch and Tina, Steam, Zippo, Pep and Minnie, Bobby Rego and his brother Benny, Chopper, Jester’s best friend, and Bottles O’Hearn, who was one of Johnnie’s buddies from juvenile hall when he was a kid. He got the nickname because he liked to throw bottles at his enemies and cut their faces with them.
“Tonight, we have a special mission for all of you. We are always looking for a great party, and this time we have found the party of a lifetime. Months ago, we partied up at Kiltner Mansion, and had the time of our lives, ain’t that right, Mark?”
“Sure did, Johnnie, it was damn incredible.”
“Well, we are going back there to party to hell tonight. We scored some of the best mess on the planet, and we are going to give you all a taste of the best. No more scumdust, this is the real mess, and I’m talking premium death mess.”
“I tried some of it too, guys and it screws you up good.”
“Keep talking Johnnie, you haven’t scored good mess since you played hockey in high school. “ Chopper said.
“Chop, it’s the honest truth. We’re talking time warp central here. Are you in or not?”
“This better be worth my damn wild, Johnnie, man. I got a lot demand going and a lot of unsatisfied people needing a tune up.”
“Trust him, Chopper. It’s gonna take your game to a new level.”
“Ok, let’s do it.”
“How about you, Bottles?”
“I just want to get the split out of here, let’s get this stuff. What did you call it?”
“Umm…I call it…Morticia.”
“I like it already.”
The gang loaded into the cars and made a caravan towards the Mansion. Jester rode with his crew and Johnnie with his. As they pulled onto Monson Road, they cut the lights to the cars and pulled into the woods a little bit to hide the cars. The gang got out silently and looked around. No signs of cops or anyone else. Johnnie walked over to the gate and pondered for a moment as this time, the lock was opened.
“This ain’t right, guys. This lock is never unlocked. I think that someone is here.”
“It’s never been like that before. Should we check it out?” Jester asked.
“Yeah, why don’t you and Chopper see what’s up.”
“Johnnie, was that your balls that I just heard roll down your pants??”
“Hell no, are you going to do it?”
“You know what, we are gonna do it. Right now.”
Jester opened the gate at the lock, and Chopper walked in first. Jester got in and closed the gate. He motioned for Chopper to take one side and sweep the area with him. They walked all along the road looking for signs of people or for cars. So far nothing.
“What if they don’t come back Johnnie?”
“Sod them. If they don’t, then we go in next. I got stuff that I need to move.”
“That mess isn’t even yours Johnnie, man.”
“It’s mine if I say its mine, ok?”
“Oh, that’s a great plan.”
“Yeah, it is. I’m getting that stuff out and selling it to the highest bidders. I have enough in there to light up the whole coast.”
“Dope??? In THERE??!!”
“Damn right, and it took my damn head off. “ Torch leaned over to Tina.
“Does that mean that we can get wasted enough for you to sleep with me?”
“Not even if it was on the same coroner slab, numbnuts.”
“Twat.”
Chopper and Jester came up on the mansion and the mausoleum. Roving their eyes around the property, they looked at the landscape. No cars, no people, nothing. As Chopper looked up he noticed that the full moon overhead was now being obscured by clouds, and the wind was beginning to pick up. Jester gave Chopper the signal and Chopper gave it back. All clear. Both of them returned to get the group.
“Place looks like it did before, all deserted. No pigs, no nothing. But, I don’t know, Johnnie, something just isn’t right with the place. Not like it was before. Its TOO quiet.” Jester reported. Johnnie knew better than to question Jester’s instincts, they were the best in the world.
“Ok, then something is up. Chopper, did you and Torch bring the goods?”
“But, of course.” Torch and Chopper reached into their respective bags and began to pass out weapons. A baseball bat with nails, a bushwhacker, 2 machetes, a pitchfork, and 3 crowbars. Everyone had their respective weapons.
“And in the meantime, whoever comes with me will get covered by this…” Johnnie said as he reached into his duffle bag and pulled out a black Uzi submachine gun, with a laser sight and telescope. The gang’s jaws dropped.
“Where in the living hell did you get that?” Chopper asked.
“My Dad is in the military, he can get anything. I swiped it off of him when we were cleaning them once.”
“Did you bring silver bullets with that thing?”
“What for?”
“To kill werewolves.”
“Are you damn soft, Jester? Werewolves? That’s only in the movies. Those things aren’t real. Besides, if it bleeds, it can die, and it doesn’t have to be silver. For purposes of our discussion…”
Johnnie cocked back the slide on the Uzi.
“…brass will do fine for now.” Jester shook his head and waited patiently in the night air.
“Ok, when we head in, no fancy mess, and if you see anything, peep.”Johnnie explained.
The group moved towards the gate and one by one slid in. Kaylei moved over to Jester close.
“What does ‘peep’ mean?” she asked.
“Sound like a bird, so you can let others know that you saw something.”
“I understand. You scared of here?”
“Not really…” Jester lifted his shirt to reveal a sheath that contained a very ominous looking knife that he pulled out, and down in his waist band was a pearl-handled .45 caliber pistol.
“…my Dad was in service too. He knew Johnnie's dad.” Kaylei giggled.
The group spread out over the perimeter and looked for any signs of intrusion by someone else. They did not see anything. Perhaps the police did something to it. Way off to the left, a peep was signaled by Steam. The group took cover immediately, and looked out. Nothing. Jester made his way over to Steam and checked in.
“What did you see, big man?”
“The door. Door to that building opened.”
“Ok, we’ll take a look.” Above them, the sky began to rumble with the prospect of rain. The group looked at the moon, which was becoming obscured by clouds.
“Looks like we are going in. Everyone, over here.” The group shuffled over to the open door and leaned back enough to enter one by one.
