Dark tourist destinations in the news include the new London Tombs exhibit, Weird Chicago Tours, the Crescent Hotel, Lake Superior's Pressie, the Silver Bridge and Mothman, Loch Ness, the Yeti, a Bigfoot exhibit, UFO photo in Poland, and a Bigfoot investigation in California. London Bridge is Falling Down - local schools invited to record rhyme London SE1 has posted this notice about a contest for students from London-based schools to contribute their recording of the famous "London Bridge is Falling Down" poem to be part of the new theme attraction, The London Bridge Experience, which is slated to open next February. Part of the attraction will be a venture into the "London Tombs," which is being constructed to compete with the popular London Dungeon and "create a scare factor unsurpassed in the UK." Don't just tour--take a walk on the weird side The Chicago Tribune puts the spotlight on Weird Chicago Tours, which takes tourists around to various places in Chicago, Illinois associated with the crimes and murders, paranormal history, and... well, the weird. Partners Find Chasing Ghosts Profitable The Morning News talks with the owners of the Eureka Springs Ghost Tour that take visitors on a paranormal tour of the Crescent Hotel & Spa and its sister-hotel, Basin Park Hotel, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Internet helps revive story of Lake Superior creature The Capital Times has this article on the legend of Pressie, a creature believed to exist in the waters of Lake Superior, following a photo being released on the Internet that was taken 30 years ago near Wildnerness State Park in the Porcupine Mountains north of Ironwood, Michigan that many believe to be the actual lake monster. Survivor recalls plunge from Silver Bridge into the river The Charleston Daily Mail has this article that looks at the collapse of the Silver Bridge in Point Pleasant, West Virginia on its 40th year anniversary. Theories behind why the bridge collapse range from a curse by Chief Cornstalk, a Shawnee Indians leader who was detained and later killed at Fort Randolph in Point Pleasant, to the Mothman, a mysterious winged-creature that was the subject of a flurry of sightings in the area prior to the bridge collapse. Legend-rich Scotland keeps a loch on the imagination Like the Point Pleasant articles above, this article from ScrippsNews delves further into the Loch Ness Monster mythology and the tourism trade that has popped up around it, bringing countless of curiosity seekers to the shores of Loch Ness, Scotland. Catch the creature by his foot The Indian paper, Deccan Herald, has this write-up on the famed Yeti, or Abominable Snowman, believed to lurk in the Himalayan regions of Nepal and Tibet, following the discovery of a footprint by a team of investigators from the Sci-Fi show, Destination Truth, last month. Reindeer and Sasquatch? Museum's celebration is inspired by furry beasts The Olympian has this write-up about curators at The Washington State Capital Museum in Olympia, Washington are gearing up for Christmas, as well as their ongoing popular exhibit, Giants in the Mountains: The Search for Sasquatch, that explores the legend of a Bigfoot-like creature believed to exist in the Pacific Northwest. Poznan Air Show UFO Photos UFO Digest has this write-up on recent photos that were taken at an air show held in Poznan city (Wielkopolska) district of Malta in Poland that purports to show an unidentified flying object flying in the skies.
