Information
The Blair Witch Project
This cemetery in Burkittsville, Maryland was used early on in The Blair Witch Project as the characters shoot an opening to their documentary.  While the cemetery is mentioned as the final resting place for a large amount of young children that fell victim to the Blair Witch, the story is completely fabricated.  While, there are several children buried in Union Cemetery, there is probably no more than any other cemetery.

The notoriety of the film brought tourists to the location and there were a few acts of vandalism, including someone leaving a candle burning on the grounds in the midst of a drought.  Fortunately, no damage was done then, but the locals are not necessarily thrilled with the idea of tourists since.

Ghosts of the Civil War
Several Union and Confederate soldiers died in the nearby Battle for Crampton's Gap.  The locals took the bodies to the cemetery and buried them in shallow graves, assuming that the two armies would someday return for their dead.  However, it wasn't until 1868 that the bodies were exhumed and moved to a national cemetery.  As it turns out, that did nothing to stop reports of people seeing strange lights or the apparitions of soldiers wandering the grounds of the cemetery.
