Rondo Hatton
Actor Rondo Hatton is buried in the American Legion Cemetery in Tampa, Florida. Rondo was a World War I veteran who suffered from a disease known as acromegaly. The disease can cause deformities as well as increased height (See actor Matthew McCrory). It gave Rondo a very distinctive appearance. The deformities came to him later in life and caused some to believe the disease to have been brought about by Rondo's exposure to poisonous gas during the war. That is an unlikely cause though.
Rondo went on to play villainous roles in films such as The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1939), The Pearl of Death, House of Horrors, and The Brute Man. The latter three films had Rondo Hatton in his recurring role as "The Creeper." Much like Robbie the Robot, the Creeper was dropped into films with no connection to previous incarnations of the role.
