The Ghost and the Darkness
From March through December of 1898, two maneless male lions terrorized railroad workers building a bridge across the Tsavo River in Kenya. Despite setting up defenses and traps, the lions would raid the camps at night, dragging workers out of their tents to devour them. Nicknamed "The Ghost" and "The Darkness", the two lions were hunted and slain by Lt. Col. John Henry Patterson. The lions reputedly killed over a hundred people before they were finally taken down. The story of the lions and Patterson has been fictionalized in the films Bwana Devil (the first 3D feature film!) and The Ghost and the Darkness.

Also known as the Tsavo Maneaters, the lions are both on display in the Field Museum.

This looked like it would be alot of fun to visit. We went as far as the lobby though, since it was on the pricey side....about $25 a ticket.
