Information
The Castaic Truck Wash
This truck wash is located in Castaic, California and is notable for its brief appearance in the 2007 horror film, Halloween. The facility really is an active truck wash on Castaic Road, which features various businesses that cater to the trucker traffic that passes through the area. This real ambience made it a perfect setting as a transition stop for the horror icon Michael Myers in the 2007 Rob Zombie remake of Halloween (2007).

Halloween (2007)
The film is a remake of the classic 1978 horror classic, Halloween, from director John Carpenter. The original has often been credited as sparking the run of the slasher sub-genre of films that permeated the genre for the next couple of decades. The remake focuses more on the villain, Michael Myers, than its predecessor and adds almost an hour of extra storyline that precedes the "remake" portion of the film. After murdering his mother's boyfriend and sister in the fictional city of Haddonfield, Illinois, Myers is incarcerated in Smith's Grove Sanitarium under the care of Doctor Samuel Loomis. 15 years after he committed the murders, he breaks loose from the hospital and returns to Haddonfield to pick up where he left off.

The Castaic Truck Wash makes its appearance shortly after the escape of Myers (Tyler Mane) and is where he stops to grab new clothing from an unfortunate victim and discards his hospital gown. The unfortunate victim in this case is none other than Dawn of the Dead (1978) alumnus, Ken Foree, who plays the role of trucker Big Joe Grizzly.

Only the exteriors of the truck wash actually appear in the film, as the "bathroom" set was actually built inside the lobby of another location used in the remake of Halloween (see South Pasadena Public Library, South Pasadena, CA). According to Zombie, the truck wash's actual employees were cast as extras in the exterior scenes of the facility. For the interior sequence, the crew built an additional breakaway stall for the fight scene between Big Joe Grizzly and Myers, but ultimately did not need to use it as Mane and Foree's fight scene in the real stall was so ferocious that it broke the real thing apart.

Filming took place on Rob Zombie's remake of Halloween in the Castaic-area in early March of 2007. The Castaic Truck Wash is conveniently located across the street and a few buildings down from the Country Girl Saloon, which doubled as the Rabbit in Red lounge in the production (see Halloween (2007): The Rabbit in Red Lounge). Various locations throughout the city of Los Angeles were used in the making of the film, while the main houses that doubled as Haddonfield residences were all located in South Pasadena; including Michael's childhood home and the site of the climactic scene (see Halloween (1978): The Myers House).

The Truck Wash Today
The Castaic Truck Wash remains in business to this day and continues to serve the various truckers passing through the area. It is located off of Castaic Road behind a couple of businesses, but its distinctive blue walls and "Truck Wash" sign seen in Halloween are visible from the main thoroughfare. However, it does remain an active business so tourists need to remember to respect both the business and their customers if they plan to visit.
