Information
Loch Ness Lodge Hotel
This 50-room lodge lies nestled in the village of Drumnadrochit, Scotland and is world-famous for its Original Loch Ness Centre that explores the legend of the Loch Ness Monster (or Nessie for short). The lodge reportedly dates back as far as 1740 and was once the home of a Colonial Tea Planter. Today it sits on eight acres and also offers a café, restaurant, gift shop, exhibits (see below), and even arranges boat tours of Loch Ness.

The Original Loch Ness Visitor Centre
Probably the most popular attraction at the lodge is their exhibit on the well-known monster believed to reside in Loch Ness. The exhibit, which reportedly takes an hour to get through, mixes a 30 to 40-minute film with photographs, reports and latest findings to cover the creature's history from its first reported sighting in the 6th Century to today. According to reports, the exhibit treats its subject with a more open mind than that of the nearby Loch Ness Exhibition Centre, which ironically opened before it. In fact, the Original Loch Ness Visitor Centre was actually the sixth such exhibition to open in the area, though the other four have since closed. The story goes that the hotel used to display pictures of the research into the Loch Ness Monster several years ago before it officially became an exhibit - thus the "Original" Loch Ness Visitor Centre.

Braveheart Centre
For those interested in Scottish history, the lodge also offers this exhibit, which displays historical artifacts (such as dirks, guns, and various weaponry over the years) to panels that depict important events in Scotland. Such events include the Battle of Bannockburn, the Declaration of Arbroath, the Union of 1707, the Jacobite Rebellions, and the recent movements toward Scottish Scottish Devolution.

The Lodge Today
The Original Loch Ness Visitor Center is open year-round with shorter hours in the winter. For more information, please visit their site below.
