Information
Closed
It appears that the folks behind Nightmare have removed references to their Miami location from their official Web site and no other information appears to be available. At this time, it appears that the haunt has closed its doors after only one year. This page will be updated with the latest information if we receive it. In the meantime, please check the official site for potential updates. The past seasonal information is included below.

Nightmare: Miami
This Halloween haunted attraction in Miami, Florida is a relative newcomer with its first year starting in 2008, though it is simply an expansion of a wildly popular haunt found in New York City, New York. The Nightmare New York City haunted attraction began simply enough back in 2004 by Timothy Haskell, but quickly expanded when Haskell teamed up with producer Chip Meyrelles to form the production company, Psycho Clan. The group expanded on Haskell's original haunt and crowds with the formation of Nightmare. The haunt is relatively unique in that in bases their attraction around a variety of responses they receive to their theme-based questions. For the past three years, the New York City haunt has been based chronologically around their visitor's greatest fears, best paranormal tales, and worst nightmares.

The Miami attraction came about when Haskell met up with veteran-haunter Steve Kopelman (owner of the popular Internet portal hauntedhouse.com that lists haunts around the United States) and the duo decided to join forces to bring Haskell's work to Florida. Together, they grabbed the event space at Soho Studios and invested $600,000 and a staff of around 70 to make the attraction reality. In addition to the standard Nightmare haunted house, the Miami attraction also added in two separate attractions that are included for the price of admission.

Nightmare: Ghost Stories
For the first year in Miami, Psycho Clan decided to resurrect their 2007 theme from the haunt in New York City, Nightmare: Ghost Stories. The stories were collected from nearly 5,000 responses and limited down to represent various rooms of the interactive haunted house. This theme was carried over to the Miami incarnation of the haunted attraction and is represented by 18 rooms of different ghostly experiences.

Nightmare: Old School
This attraction is a smaller attraction that goes back in the past and resurrects familiar horror icons like vampires, zombies, and the Frankenstein monster.

Mortuary
This high-tech attraction is set in a funeral parlor where guests are entertained by the strange antics of animatronics. The "4D" experience is reportedly an assault on all five senses that utilizes top-notch special effects.

Further Attractions
Aside from the three main attractions, Nightmares: Ghost Stories also offers guests the chance to unwind after their adventure by sitting down at The Graveyard Bar and Lounge. On Halloween night, visitors are treated to Nightmare: Halloween Bash - a Halloween party that features live music, costume contents, prizes, and are entertained to the antics of stilt walkers, glow dancers, and more from the Animate Objects Physical Theatre.

That really is sad to see that they are no longer there. I really hate to see it when different haunted houses no longer are in business. Like how Michigan haunted houses have been hit like the auto industry, it is just hard for all of us. www.hauntworld.com/michigan_haunted_houses
