Old Gray Cemetery
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Old Gray Cemetery is located in Knoxville, Tennessee. It was established in 1852 and named after English poet, Thomas Gray in honor of his poem, "Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard." It is widely renowned for its Victorian-style art and architecture. It is also the final resting place of several Tennessee politicians and notable Knoxville residents.
Shadow Figure
Old Gray Cemetery is also well known for another occupant. There have been a multitude of sightings of a shadowy figure (or "black aggie") at night that is said to move around the cemetery. Several seem to think that the figure is unaware of anyone else and is simply going about its routine.
