Information
The Daily Astorian
This building currently houses the Pacific Coast Medical Supply, Inc., but in 2005 it doubled as The Daily Astorian newspaper in the horror sequel The Ring Two. In the film, this is the location that the character of Rachel (Naomi Watts) comes to work for the local paper. Ironically enough, the paper The Daily Astorian does in fact exist, only they are not housed in this location. It is unclear if at some point they moved or the filmmakers simply wanted a different look for their headquarters of the paper in the film.

Astoria, Oregon is well known for its constantly changing weather that can make filmmaking somewhat of a chore. The Ring Two producer Steven Spielberg already had plenty of experience with the unpredictable weather of Astoria in his 1985 production, The Goonies. So when DreamWorks decided upon making Astoria the setting for the horror film, they decided to preempt the weather and bring in their own rain machines to keep a consistent rain falling or appearing as if had just rained throughout the film. As such, most of the scenes outside this building were either in the rain or shot with the streets wet. It is unclear if the building was used solely for exterior shots, but it is far more likely that all interior shots were filmed on a soundstage in Hollywood.

The Building Today
The building still houses Pacific Coast Medical Supply, Inc. and continues to serve customers. Unless you are in need of medical supplies, it is highly advised that you limit your visit to outside the building and respect the company and their customers.
