Michael Dunn
Actor/singer Michael Dunn (Born Gary Miller) is interred at this cemetery in Oklahoma. Michael is primarily known for his role as the villainous Dr. Miguelito Loveless on the 1960s TV show The Wild, Wild West (1965-1969). He appeared in 10 episodes of the series and was a fan favorite as the arch-nemesis of agents Jim West and Artemis Gordon.
Michael also played roles in a number of horror movies. He appeared along with Jason Robards in Edgar Allan Poe's Murders in the Rue Morgue (1971). He played the role of Dr. Kiss in 1973's The Werewolf of Washington. He played the perverted mad scientist's henchman, Genz, in the dreadful Dr. Frankenstein's Castle of Freaks (1974). He appeared with Donald Pleasance in The Wolf and the Dove (1974). In the same year he would star once again with Donald Pleasance (and a pre-Doctor Who Tom Baker) in The Mutations. All three of these last horror films appeared after Dunn had passed away in 1973.
Dunn also had roles in episodes of other classic science fiction and horror TV shows, such as Star Trek (1966-1969), Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (1964-1968) and Rod Serling's The Night Gallery (1970-1973). He also appeared as Mr. Big, the head of K.A.O.S. in the pilot episode of Get Smart (1965-1970).
Michael Dunn was also a chondrodystrophic dwarf with a reported IQ of 175. He only reached a height of 3' 10", but also taught himself to read at the age of 3 and was a talented pianist. Michael's dwarfism unfortunately caused pressure on his lungs, not allowing them to develop as they should. He died in his sleep at the age of 38 when his heart gave out from the stress caused by his inability to breathe sufficiently and possibly from pain medication prescribed to him.
Michael was interred in a cemetery in Florida after his death in August of 1973. In July of 2007, his relatives had him disinterred and reburied at his current resting place in Sunset Memorial Park. He is now buried near his parents in the state in which he was born. |
