Information
Gottschalks
This store in Port Angeles, Washington (see Port Angeles, Washington) is one of the many stores in the Gottschalks department store chain that operate in the western United States. This particular location has gained some notoriety for its perceived connection to the popular Twilight series of novels by author Stephenie Meyer.

Twilight
In Stephenie Meyer's novel Twilight the character of Bella Swan goes to the department store in the city of Port Angeles, to keep her friends company while they shop for dresses for the school's spring dance. Though the store goes unnamed, various fans of the series have concluded that Gottschalks closely fits the description and location of the store that is seen in the novel. As such, it has become one of the many locations in northwest Washington that has seen a surge of Twilight-based tourism in recent years.

Movie Adaptation
The dress shop scene was included in the 2008 film adaptation of Twilight by director Catherine Hardwicke. The production actually took place primarily in the state of Oregon in the greater-Portland area, due to financial considerations by the production company Summit Entertainment. For the film, a hair salon in the city of Saint Helens was transformed to play the role of the dress shop Petite Jolie (see Twilight 2008: Petite Jolie). While finally giving a name to the shop, it more than likely did not use the name of Gottschalks due to naming rights concerns.
