Information
The Lincoln Theatre
The Lincoln Theatre in downtown Port Angeles, Washington (see Port Angeles, Washington) was built in the 1920s. It operated as a single screen theatre for roughly 60 years. In the 1980s, efforts to keep the theatre in business resulted in a renovation of the interior. The inside was split into three separate smaller theatres to maximize audience potential by allowing the Lincoln to show more than one film at a time. The Lincoln Theatre has continued to serve the movie-going public in the decades since, while maintaining the classic appearance of the Lincoln's exterior.

The Twilight Saga
In the novel New Moon by Stephenie Meyer, the characters of Bella Swan and Jessica Stanley go to a movie theatre in Port Angeles. Bella is trying to appease her father, who wants her to spend more time with friends, after her break-up with Edward. Bella chooses a zombie movie, so as to avoid having to deal with anything remotely romantic. Later in the same novel, Bella goes to the same theater with Jacob Black and Mike Newton. The two boys both have a romantic interest in Bella and vie for her attention. The three end up leaving early when Mike starts to feel ill. By the time Jacob drops Bella off at home, he too is beginning to feel a bit strange. It is the last evening Bella spends with Jacob while he is still human.

Perhaps due to the theatre being near Bella Italia, fans seem to have chosen the Lincoln Theatre to represent the theater in the book. In New Moon , the theater is described as being near a McDonald's and a bar named One-Eyed Pete's. In reality, One-Eyed Pete's doesn't exist, and neither of the two actual theaters in Port Angeles are near the only McDonald's restaurant in the city.

On November 21, 2008, the Lincoln Theatre gave the red carpet treatment to fans of Twilight. For the nation-wide release of the film adaption of the first novel, they ran a red carpet from the theatre to Bella Italia (see Twilight Saga: Bella Italia).

For the 2009 release of New Moon, the Lincoln Theatre showed Twilight once again on the evening of November 19, 2009, immediately followed by a midnight showing of New Moon (which premiered nation-wide on November 20, 2009). The showings at the Lincoln were part of a larger Twilight celebration in Port Angeles, which included dog shows (in honor of the werewolves making their appearance in New Moon), a "Find Victoria" scavenger hunt, wine tastings, and tours of Forks, Washington (see Forks, Washington).
