The Robert Blake Murder Trial
On May 4, 2001, actor Robert Blake and his wife, Bonny Lee Bakley, had dinner in this restaurant. After the meal, he walked her to his car around the corner. He returned to the restaurant to retrieve a handgun that he had dropped in the booth he'd dined in. Shortly afterward Blake would be pounding on the door of filmmaker Sean Stanek's house, yelling that his wife was hurt. Bonny had been shot twice; once in the shoulder and once in the head. Her wounds were fatal.
Blake was accused by authorities in her murder and stood trial. He was eventually acquitted in the criminal trial, but was later held liable for her death in a civil suit.
