Just curious if anyone is watching this new sci-fi show. The marketing of the show really emphasized its fantasy elements and downplayed the horror aspects of it, so I was fairly surprised at the amount of horror in it.
It is a pretty good ride though. For the most part, I've really enjoyed Sci-Fi's original shows (Ghost Hunters, Eureka, Scare Tactics, The Dresden Files, The Lost Room - I still need to watch Battlestar Galactica). I just wish they would take their original films a little more seriously. |

I just started watching a few weeks ago, and so far I'm really enjoying the show. It's actually pretty similar to an idea I had for a weekly sci-fi show only minus the time period element.
There's seems to be a strong sexual chemistry between Dresdan and Murphy. I'm a little lost on why neither acts on it.
The most recent episode I saw had a new female character, a blond reporter, as a love interest. Granted, I missed teh first 2 or 3 minutes, but was this the episode she was introduced in? It seems a little strange for a character to find out most of Harry's secrets on the first date.... _________________ Are you and Independent Filmmaker? The last episode was completely out of synch with the rest of the series to date. There were a ton of things that just seemed off - The High Council was very confrontational with Harry, the blonde reporter, Murphy's knowledge of magic, Harry using a lot more magic, no Bob, etc..
Halfway through I guessed that it must have been the original pilot, before they made changes to the story. Turns out that is what it was. It apparently followed the novels (I haven't read them personally) more closely than the show to date. From what I gathered, things will return to "normal" on tonight's episode. I hope so. I liked the other version of the show better.
But how very confusing to put this one in there in the middle of the season. |

actually, i thought the episodes i've seen previously were reruns and that the story had progressed to the point where Murphy knew about the magic. I just figured that based on teh previous episodes that this is what angered The Council. And, yes, the absence of Bob was extremely noticable. Again, I just figured I'd missed a few episodes. This is what happens when you come into a show late....
Thanks for the clarification. _________________ Are you and Independent Filmmaker? Advertise your work as part of the B-Independent.com Banner Exchange program.

I could see how you thought that. I think I have seen them all and it completely threw me for a loop, until I finally decided that it was the pilot. I had to go hit their boards just to make sure and regained a bit of my sanity when they confirmed it. I guess it was originally two hours and they trimmed it down into the hour episode.
All was back to normal last night though. |

that was a pretty seamless snipjob if they cut it down by half. outside of what we've already discussed, the episode felt like a normal hour of television, and not like anything was missing. _________________ Are you and Independent Filmmaker? I completely agree. I saw a few people point out that they didn't show how the high council member escape from Dresden's confinement spell and such, but I thought it was handled well. He escaped. He has magic too. On with the story. But I was surprised when I heard it had been cut down too. Kudos to the editor. |

Heh... Yeah, I noticed.
As for Dresden - I agree, though I skipped Flash Gordon personally. Sci-fi is really touch and go with their shows. In fairness, they typically stand by their quality stuff like Eureka, but I guess it wasn't meant to be for Dresden Files. As long as they keep Derren Brown, I'm happy. :^) |
