I just saw a TV ad for a new adpation of King's Children of the Corn. The commercial stated that it would follow the original source material more closely. You can only follow so close when you have to pad a short story into a feature-leangth film though. The fact that the movie is premiering on SyFy doesn't give me much hope though.
It just won't be the same without Courtney Gains yelling "Outlander! We have your woman!"
Not that this will matter to anyone, but I remember watching the original Children of the Corn of video at a friend's birthday party. It had just come out, and we all sat down and were properly terrified at the right times. Man, do any of you remember when a horror movie actually terrified you? I miss those days.
There have been some terrible movies on Sci-Fi in the past. Here's my favorite -
It's not every day you get to see a shark take out the Golden Gate bridge...
I don't know how the new Children will be, but I'm sure I'll end up watching it nonetheless. _________________ Work is the curse of the drinking class.
I actually forgot all about this movie in the time since I made this post. It's probably aired by now.

Nah. I love reading people's memories of horror films like that. Makes me recall staying up late at night as a kid in the 70s to watch the Night Gallery pilot, episodes of Kolchak or an episode of Creature Feature. I remember the thrill of being a child sitting in the dark by myself as Vincent Price's voice narrated over the thudding sound effect of a heartbeat the first time I watched Tales of Terror (1962). I watched it again recently and it's just not the same.
