This Tuesday I got a hefty bookpackage from my friend, Mr Self Affliction. In addition to finding S. P. Somtow's mighty RIVERUN TRILOGY to me, collected in a beautiful omnibus, he also sent me THE BIGHEAD by Edward Lee and THE BLACK DAHLIA by James Ellroy.

That man is incredible and so, I'll bet, are those books!

And now, this Saturday afternoon I got a package from a gentleman in Oklahoma, a limited and signed edition of SPLATTERSPUNK: The Micah Hays Stories.

Wow! There can't be many who have this one since there are 550 copies of this book in print, with only 526 offered for sale.
Actually I need to thank Rachaela for this one since it was she who nudged me in the direction of Ebay, where I found it in an action. Thanks Ra:-)

Fenny, what a treat you got this weekend! I'm glad you found a copy of Splatterspunk: The Micah Hays Stories. It's hilarious! I about fell off my chair when I began reading it--Lee & Pelan are great.

This week I also received two packages from two of our board members. First, Fenny here sent me a copy of SHADOWS OVER INSMOUTH, a collection of British authors who place their tales in Lovecraft country and a copy of Mark Morris' THE IMACULATE. Can't wait to read them.

Also, the very kind Mark Sieber sent me a copy of Harlan Ellison's short story collection STRANGE WINE, one of the few Ellison books I don't own.

Thanks a lot guys.

Well, I got so jealous of you guys getting books by mail that I went over to Amazon.com and ordered The Girl Next Door by Ketchum. I already know not to read the King intro. But I'd like to add not to read the amazon reviews either. One review gave away the ending in the first sentence! I was SO mad when I read that. I thought, "Gee, I'm shelling out $30 so I can read the book and I already know how it ends. Thanks!" I wish there was some way I could write and tell them not to do that.

rachaela,
Well I read the King intro to the Overlook Edition as well and even though I knew the ending I was still blown away by the book. It's definitely in my Top 10 favorite List. But be warned, it is one intense and graphic book. If you've never read a Ketchum story you might be quite shocked. However, I think you'll like it if not love it.

For some reason I get the feeling Rachaela isn't one of them faint of heart type of girls. So "The Girl Next Door" should be right up her alley. I sure like it intense myself so whenever I do get around to reading Ketchum I'll try to make TGND my first.

Rachaela, do you know if "Header" is a sequel or in any way related to "The Bighead?" I ask because I remember you had or have ordered them both.

Closet-pervo,
Fen;)

Fenny, you're right--I'm not very faint at heart. And this isn't my first Ketchum. I have most of his other works. Stranglehold is his most intense (only because I haven't read TGND yet) so far, so I'm looking forward to seeing how much further he can go.

Fenny, The Bighead isn't related to Header in any way I could see. Header is a fast, sick read and I have to admit I haven't made it all the way through The Bighead yet.

Out of the closet pervo,
Rachaela

Can't you soon do or say something bad so I'll have an excuse for spanking you again? It's been so long, all the marks must have healed up by now Wink

Pervos hide in closets?

Note to self: Look in closets more often, if you're CERTAIN the monster won't get me.

No, Phango. Only pseudo-pervos hide in closets. Real pervos hide in cabinets, and if you look there you'll find Casey tittering gleefully at you with his trusty-rusty razor.

The Doctor will see you now...lol.

Just have to have some fun on the boss-man's account.
