Hello fellow horror fans! Do you remember the old days when horror movies were fun? Are you tired of horror movies taking themselves so seriously? Were you like me and enjoyed watching movies that you could laugh and be disgusted all at the same time? Movies like Creep Show, Tails from the Crypt, Friday the 13th: A New Beginning, and Dead Alive. Well I am pleased to tell you that the award winning Benzidream FX Studios in Pittsburgh, PA, is currently working on a horror anthology that will take you back to those days! Theater of Terror tells three tales that will leave you laughing, disgusted, and entertained for infinite replays. We are currently in preproduction, but we are trying to spread the word around. If you do desire to get in on ground zero and be a part of this production we are currently looking for executive producers. About Benzidream FX Studios
Benzidream was started in 2001 while doing effects for Terrors by the Lake haunted house, a haunted house run by local charities and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Over the years Benzidream has done SPFX, websites, film productions, and various custom fabrications for a variety of clients in Pittsburgh and across the country.
Our tag line: "If you can dream it, we can make it" stands very true. We do a variety of SPFX for film: On set FX, animatronics, mold making, life casting, props, weapons, masks, gun shots, smoke FX, creature make-ups, casualty make-ups... the list goes on. At Benzidream, anything is possible, in the physical or digital world. Benzidream is also a fully functional production studio, that can handle all aspects of film making from start to finish.
A most impressive feature about Benzidream, is our custom fabrication department. There is no can't - as far as custom fabrication goes, the sky is the limit! This can include: outdoor sculpture, facial and limb restoration, architectural restoration, custom car and bike, commercial film making, molds for culinary, product displays, concrete work for landscapes, likeness busts, wall hangings, 3D objects, art for interior design... the list of possibilities never ends. That's great, Theater of Terror.....
You see, the thing is...many people today think that it takes impressive special fx to make a good horror film, and thats what it takes to make an impression. Not true.
A good story, a cohesive plot, memorable characters, excellent setting....those things are important to make a good horror movie. I just think that producers today cant make a good horror film, despite how much blood they spill. Anyone remember Halloween and the impact it had? Hardly any sfx there.
I dont want to laugh, be disgusted, or entertained...if i want that, ill watch Rupaul's Drag Race. If you are talking about a horror movie...then scare me. That's what a horror film like the ones you mentioned was designed to do - instill fear and fright in the person. Make me afraid to shut the light off in the room.
