Recorded in 1964, (Golden Records) this long out of print LP features the cast of the TV show performing as their TV characters. Fred Gwynne as Herman Munster. Yvonne De Carlo as Lily Munster. Al Lewis as Grandpa. Pat Priest as Marilyn. And last, but not least, Butch Patrick performing as Eddie. The album puts you, the listner, into the story by having the cast talk to you like you are really there. It starts out with Herman greeting you at the door and giving you the tour of the house. You are introduced to the rest of the family as the tour progresses, with each character taking a moment to sing you a song along the way. Herman sings "It Takes All Kind Of People." Lily sings "Everyone Is Welcome." Grandpa sings "The Alphabet Song." Love starved Marilyn croons "When Will I Find A Boy Like Me." And Eddie sings "I Wish Everyone Was Born This Way." The best song and best reason to track this record down is the theme "At The Munsters." Unlike all the Munster themes you have heard before, this is the original TV version that contained lyrics! This version of the theme was never used on the TV show because it was slower and much more scary than the show was ever meant to be or ever was. Some of the lyrics go...
"Behind their house you mustn't be afraid
To see a figure digging with a spade.
Perhaps someone didn't quite make the grade
With the Munsters, with the Munsters."
