| Summary |
|
A woman buys an African Zuni fetish doll for her boyfriend and brings it back to her apartment where she lives alone. When she opens the package, she reads an accompanying scroll that reveals that the gold chain on the doll is meant to contain an ancient spirit of a Zuni hunter, known as "He Who Kills." Without her knowledge, the chain unwittingly falls off and her night of terror has begun. | Submitted By: TheCabinet

| Trivia |
| The story of the African Zuni fetish doll does not end with Trilogy of Terror. Following the airing of the film, the segment immediately gained a large following and is today considered a classic moment in the history of the horror genre. Director Dan Curtis would once again resurrect the doll for a similar segment titled, He Who Kills, in the sequel, Trilogy of Terror II over twenty years later. Today, a replica of the infamous African Zuni fetish doll is sold for fans of the segment (see Available from Amazon.com on the main page of Trilogy of Terror).

The first two stories, not even worth writing about. But hells bells! That last one is pure horror at its absolute best. I read an interview with Karen Black recently and she said that despite all her work with Hitchcock and Altman, people still come up to her and say the one performance they still remember is the Zuni fetish doll. The last ten seconds of the sequence gave me nightmares for weeks! Either skip the first two stories entirely, or use them as less-intense preludes to the real story.

Actually, since this is a trilogy I give it an average average excellent. The averages are at the lower end of average so I reckon it averages out to a good. But like Bobby says that third short story is a killer. I stumbled onto the movie more by accident when it first aired and don't really remember the first two stories, but I'll never forget the third. I had actually remembered it as being part of a TV show like Twilight Zone or similar and could never find any one else who had seen it. I watched it with my son who was 4 or 5 at the time. (I dunno if it warped him or not, being rather warped myself, I have difficulty recognizing relative warpednes in others.) As we were watching that fiendish little doll chewing up the scenary ( literally) he asked, "Daddy, what is that thing?" I said i didn't know. He said, "Well, if you ever see one don't buy it." Smart kid.
