I just turned 50, and there's one story from the series "Way Out" back in 1961 that haunts me to this day. I didn't remember the title, but now seeing it in the Horror Television Database, it's probably "The Sideshow." I can't remember all of it, but it's about a man who goes to a sideshow and sees a woman without a head. She has some electrodes coming out of her neck. She talks to the man and tells him of her predicament. I think she was being held against her will there. When the man leaves, she's being tortured by being electrocuted through the wires going into her neck. I forgot a lot of it, but I think it ends up with the woman getting another head--an old woman's head. And the man who tried to help her is now the freak in the sideshow, with no head, and he's being tortured with the wires going through his neck. Brrrrrrrrr!!! Creepy stuff! The show was done on videotape, so it had a more immediate impact on the viewer than if it was on film. Of course, it was in black-and-white, which adds to the creepiness. I also remember "Fade to Black." Does anyone know if any of these episodes are available on tape? I have to see "The Sideshow" again, just to exorcise those demons. This series came from an era when horror stories were truly creepy. "Thriller," another excellent anthology series, also had truly scary stories, again, in black-and-white.
